I've read a lot of bitching about Seasons 3 and 4 due to the presence of Connor, but all the reviews i've read that don't just get bogged down about that one character seem to say that the show grew as a series from becoming more serialised, structured and story-arc heavy and that the characters continued to gain depth and such. I've heard this in regards to Seasons 3-5 quite a bit, but we'll focus on Season 4 here, for Woody's sake. Here are a few Season 4 reviews i've read that I have come up with real quickly: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/angelseason4.php http://au.dvd.ign.com/articles/547/547842p1.html http://www.chud.com/articles/articles/925/1/DVD-REVIEW-ANGEL---SEASON-4/Page1.html http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/12183/angel-season-four/ And a Season 3 review for good measure: http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=5300 The general gist of the reviews that I came across went along the same sort of lines as those i've linked y'all to. Maybe there's a lot of different verdicts around that I haven't seen, but I had always believed (even prior to watching the series) that the consensus was that it got consistently better as it went along (or, at the very least, never got any worse than the first two seasons), and I strongly agree with that viewpoint. Of course, as dawned on me a few posts ago, what the majority consensus is, doesn't really matter in the slightest.
