I revisited Grim Fandango not that long ago and I had the same problem with the game crashing on my desktop computer but not my laptop (both running XP).

Try this patch to see if it helps:
http://www.grimfandango.net/?page=patch

Have you actually completed the game before?  I only finished it for the first time last year and man...the ending made me pretty sad.

Awesome, I'll give the patch a go. And nah, never finished it. Saw some segment on some tv show years ago about it, and I was sold then. I mean come on! It's a film noir style black comedy and it's called Grim Fandango! The title alone is enough to make me want it!

Yeah it was, I got through everyone else pretty well, I got most of Kens moves down now.

Whenever he's about to do the psycho crusher,  I quickly start blocking until of course your guard power gauge runs out.

Yeah, thats the bad thing. I haven't been able to beat him yet, and of course you only get one chance too.

I'm playing it on PS2, its the Alpha Anthology collection. I also have it on MAME but I seriously am alot better with the games when I have a controller and not a keyboard. I'd love to have X-Men vs Street Fighter to play on the console. My stupid MAME likes to just error on me as soon as I get to the last boss on any of my games

Got Scarface: The World Is Yours for PC today, at Eb's 2 for $50 sale.  Great game, well worth the $25 I paid.

That game has a scrotum-based scoring system doesn't it?

Indeed.  Taunting enemies builds up the "Balls" meter, which is you get full, lets you activate a mode called Blind Rage, where Tony becomes invincible, gains health for each kill, and get unlimited ammo.  Helpful.

Good game, too.

The reason i mentioned the PS1 version of it you said you only get one chance at beating bison so I'm guessing you have to restart starting from the first fight all over again,  Good thing about the PS1 version of it you don't have to restart it all just press continue and go on from the fight where you lost and i too also have a PS2.

And on the topic of streetfighter i was playing the second one of it today on the capcom classics collection got stuck on vega for a little..

VPMame Pinball, like Mame but for pinball machines...with a mame component which recreates all the scoring LCD/video/sounds etc just like a real pinball machine...just finshed getting 23 mil on Lord of the Rings...

yes that is 703 million!!!   I can't believe how much coinage I put into the real Next gen machine which is my all time favourite pinball machine - and NEVER got close to that kind of score...

I don't want to start a new thread for this question so I thought this might be the most reasonable place to ask it.

I read about the LOTR online game in the latest empire magazine and it got me wondering how it would work.  If it emulates the success of warcraft and gets 8 million people playing, does that mean when frodo gets to mount doom there will be eight million others with rings to throw in?  I can't see how a strucutred storyline is going to work on an online role playing game...

If its like Star Wars Galaxies I don't think you'll be able to "be" Frodo, or any of the major characters...you'll just play in the Tolkien universe, using the technologies and locations from the story(s)
