There were various threads for consoles, and threads for what you have bought, but nothing for general discussions about games which don't warrant their own thread. So, What are you playing? What do you think of it?

Recently, I've racked up a couple of hours of Destroy All Humans 2, which whilst fun, can feel a little same-y after a while. I'm not sure how often I'll come back to it.

In honour of the cricket, I've gone back to Brian Lara 2005, probably the best cricket sim made. It still falls victim a little to the "Six or Out" style of play, but the range of bowling options etc, and good and sensible variations in difficulty levels make it a fine way to kill a few hours.

And soon I will be returning to Tony Hawk's Project 8 - having opened up all the levels, I now need to just work through finishing off all the goals to get it fully clocked. I have done the same with basically every Tony Hawk game to date.

I only bought the wife a PS2 for Chrissy so I'm only just getting back into gaming. Aside from all her Singstar games I have From Russia With Love, GTA3, and Gran Turismo 3 A-spec. Also spend a fair chunk o'time bashing out Gutair Hero 2. Can only get past medium on a few songs though..

Looking to get more games, but haven't been paying enough attention to whats out there now.

There is so much awesome gaming on the PS2 its pretty hard to go wrong.

In the past year I heartily recommend any of the following:

Bully/Canis Canim Edit
Yakuza
Okami
Shadow of the Colossus
Guitar Heroes 1
God of War
Katamari Damacy/We Love Katamari

Myself, I still haven't gotten around to playing Black which I know is very popular around these parts and I wouldn't mind playing the GTA PSP ports either.

Right now, I'm playing Super Mario World on Wii Virtual Console.  That's about it actually.  It was the first console game I owned so I'm having plenty of memories of when I first played the game.  The fact that it was sixteen years ago is a little depressing.

I'll be the first to admit the game has its flaws.  The combat is pretty repetetive and the amount of swearing in the game is a bit much but I did enjoy the story and I know it got rave reviews in Japan for its portrayal of Yakuza crime syndicates.  It's a good game to play after watching something like Infernal Affairs.  I like it because its something different and plays a bit like a spiritual successor to Shenmue.

I was late to the party on these, but sweet jesus are they addictive and good fun. The kind of gaming I like, a little silly, no really relevance to reality, and able to see their own silliness.

This could almost be a seperate discussion in itself but have you ever had fond memories of an old game, gone back to it now and found it was unplayably shit?  On Wii Virtual Console, I found that I still can really enjoy Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World and that the gameplay in those titles still held up.

However, on Sunday, I downloaded Sim Tower off The Underdogs on a whim and found that the game is totally balls.  I used to play this game for hours back in 97 or whenever it was when it first came out but now...its horrifically bad.
